Are You Ready for Your Close-Up?
Fresh breath is something we want all the time, but with the national day of love fast approaching it is becoming increasingly important! It is imperative to freshen up before you pucker up. You would want your valentine to do the same, right? We have some tips to help you keep your mouth kissably clean and your breath perfectly prepared to whisper those sweet nothings into your beloved’s ear.
Brush your teeth!
First things first, right? But it is important to know how to clean your teeth correctly. First, you need to floss. This removes debris and build-up between your teeth. Next, brush your teeth for 2 minutes with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Hold the brush at a 45 degree angle and brush with circular motions. Be sure to lightly brush your gums and your tongue as well. Repeat this habit at least twice a day. And especially with the probability of a Valentine’s Day kiss, you might want to follow this brushing with a swish of mouthwash, too!
Drink water
Water is the best thing you can drink, both for your body and for your breath. With no bacteria promoting sugars, water is the best way to rinse food and contaminants from your mouth. Water also encourages saliva production, which is the body’s natural way to flush out bacteria from the mouth. So pass on the soda and fill up with a cool glass of clean water.
Choose food wisely
Many couples celebrate Valentine’s Day with a romantic dinner. And most people don’t take the time to brush their teeth before their good-night kiss. So, choose your foods wisely. Sulfur rich foods, like onions and garlic, are obvious things to avoid when being breath-conscious. Fresh foods, such as broccoli and apples, actually help to remove plaque from the teeth. Not only that, but the vitamins these foods contain inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria in the mouth. Put simply, fresh foods give you fresh breath.
Our Valentine’s Day gift to you is this list of ways to keep your breath fresh for your romantic holiday! This time, freshen your breath from the inside out and don’t simply rely on a piece of gum and Cupid to make this a holiday to remember.
